LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A high wind warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys from 5 a.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Damaging winds are expected with gusts between 50 and 70 mph with the strongest winds in the afternoon and evening.
Wind advisories are in effect for most coastal and valley areas into Monday night, with gusts between 35 and 55 mph.
There is also a high probability of mountain wave activity on Monday and Monday night in L.A. County mountains and the Antelope Valley.
A mountain wave can create substantial damage and may cause downed trees, power outages and blowing dust, which could limit visibility while driving and traveling.
Temperatures are forecast in the mid to upper 60s in Los Angeles Monday, but will drop into the 50s and lower 60s across coastal and valley areas Tuesday.
The strong winds and cold temperatures will result in wind chill readings to fall around 0 degrees in the mountains on Monday.
