PALM DESERT (KNX) — Riverside County fire officials responded to a hiker with a minor low extremity injury late Tuesday morning.

The injured hiker was reported before 10 a.m. at the Art Smith Trailhead in Palm Desert, according to a tweet by the department.
Firefighters hiked one-and-half miles to where the victim was located..
A California Highway Patrol helicopter carried the victim to a waiting ground ambulance where he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
