
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Wednesday and Thursday were overall impressive weather days in Southern California, according the to the National Weather Service, reporting up to eight inches of rain in some areas.
A record was broken in Downtown Los Angeles Thursday, the NWS said, as the area hit 2.34 inches of rain by 3 p.m. and more rain was expected. The previous record of 1.85 inches was set more than 80 years ago in 1936.

By 6 p.m. Thursday the NWS reported a two-day rainfall total of 8.8 inches of rainfall in the Cogswell Dam area of Azusa, Calif. and 7.1 inches in Woodland Hills. Other top rainfall totals were reported in the Topanga foothills and at Ventura County's Rocky Peach, according to a statement shared by the NWS.
Closer to the Los Angeles Metro area, Leo Carrillo hit a high of 5.3 inches in two days - leading to a flood rescue of campers early Thursday. At the L.A. Airport some 4.3 inches were recorded.
Leading numbers in the valleys included 5.7 inches in Agoura Hills, Calif., 4.6 inches in Calabasas, Calif., 4 inches in Alhambra, Calif. and 3.5 inches in Pasadena.
