While Los Angeles County Supervisors approved raising the eviction threshold in response to the ICE raids, tenant groups say it doesn’t go far enough.
Tenants rallied outside the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration before meeting on Tuesday. The supervisors raised the threshold from one to two months, but only in unincorporated areas. David Albright, an organizer with the Los Angeles Tenants Union, told KNX News’ Karen Adams the threshold to evict should be raised to at least three months for the entire county.
“Immigrant tenants are facing the threat of deportation in the streets every time that they leave their house to go to work,” he said. “But they're also facing the threat of eviction, which is another form of mass displacement. If they don't go out and go to work, if they don't have that money to pay the rent.”

The groups that rallied before the meeting say some people impacted by the raids have become homeless, while others have self-deported.
