The fire was reported at 1:04 p.m. at 662 S. Alvarado St., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

She described it as "small" and said it was located and put out.

The subway station at Westlake Boulevard and Alvarado Street was evacuated as a precaution and no trains were allowed in or out, Middleton said.

Metro confirmed the evacuations.

"There have been reports of smoke, so 7th St/Metro Center and Westlake/MacArthur Park stations are being evacuated as a precaution. There will be significant delays," the agency said.

No injuries were reported.
