There was quite a tiki culture around Los Angeles for decades. Now, a tiki bar revival is bringing that piece of that culture back.

It’s called the Lucky Tiki and it’s located above The Pop, an iconic hot dog stand on Santa Monica Boulevard. KNX News’ Emily Valdez spoke to Bobby Green, the co-owner of the 1933 Group, about how he came up with the name.

“There is a famous episode of ‘The Brady Bunch’ where Greg gets a necklace and it turns out to be really bad luck,” he said. “And you know, and when I was a kid, they used to sell souvenirs, the lucky tiki necklace, you could buy a necklace and it was called the lucky tiki necklace.”

Green said this is a generational throwback, especially for Generation X.

Reservations are required as the bar only has 45 seats. It is booked out for a month, and the owners asked people to be patient.

There’s currently a waitlist. To get on it, you can follow them on social media and send a request.
