PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A construction worker trapped under a cinder block wall that collapsed has died, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson confirmed.
It happened in a dirt lot near the 10500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard. The wall collapsed around 8:45 a.m., LAFD spokesperson Nicholas Prange told KNX News.
Prange said three people were trapped; however, two people got out. One of those people who managed to get out from under the wall was hospitalized with back pain.
Prange said the worker that was trapped had been crushed by the cinderblock wall.
"..the one patient that was trapped was under there for an extended period of time and sadly was beyond medical help by the time the rescuers were able to extricate the victim," he told KNX News.
CAL OSHA was notified and will investigate the incident.
