Police are searching for a group of burglars who allegedly broke into a Lake Balboa home late Wednesday evening while falsely identifying themselves as LAPD.

Three men entered the home on the 7300 block of Forbes Avenue just before 11:00 PM, and according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, "The suspects broke into the victim's residence and said they were LAPD."
At least one person, described as a house sitter, was inside when the back door window was smashed. The men ran off, avoiding arrest, but not before stealing a purse and a few other items.
Police said they believed the suspects didn't think anyone would be home at the time of the break-in.
