Los Angeles police need the public’s help identifying a hit-and-run driver who officers said injured several pedestrians at a popular Hollywood Hills overlook.

The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on Aug. 15 on Mulholland Drive near Outpost Drive, according to the LAPD.

Officers said the vehicle in question was headed eastbound on Mulholland Drive when it veered, running offroad and crashing into several sightseers standing just off the curb.

Authorities said one victim was "seriously injured" by the collision.

The Mulholland and Outpost observation deck regularly welcomes tourists, offering expansive views of West Los Angeles. Sightseers congregate at the site well after sunset, when visibility is low.

Police described the car as a black or gray 2016 to 2018 Honda Civic sedan. Investigators said witnesses could not provide any physical description of the motorist.

The City of L.A. has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Though Mulholland Drive has been the site of frequent reports of street racing, the LAPD told KNX its officers do not believe the hit-and-run driver was engaged in activity of the sort.

This is a developing story. KNX will update with additional information as it is received.
