An 80-foot eucalyptus tree fell on some power lines in a Brentwood neighborhood Tuesday morning, prompting an outage.
Firefighters responded to the 600 block of North Bundy Drive at 6 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Matthew Sugarman lives in the neighborhood. He told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou that he didn’t hear the tree fall, but his wife did and woke him up.
“The power was out, hit the ground and we heard a loud pop and explosion,” he said. “I slept through it, but we were here a couple of hours ago when the second tree fell, and that one was loud too.”
No injuries were reported. No homes were harmed; however, a car on the street did receive some minor damage.
About 2,000 customers were without electrical service, according to Fox 11.
Neighbors in the area told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou the tree belongs to the city of L.A. and should have been trimmed.
