CULVER CITY, Calif. (KNX) — Lincoln Avenue was closed between Braddock Drive and Culver Boulevard in Culver City as police engaged in a standoff with a man who is believed to be armed. That individual was taken into custody by Culver City police Monday afternoon.
The standoff situation began just after 8 a.m. Monday in the 4000 block of Lincoln, according to Lt. Leon Lopez with the Culver City Police Department. A woman residing on the property at the center of the standoff said the suspect, an ex-boyfriend, broke into her home the night before and held her hostage.
She said the suspect also forced her to drive him to a bank and withdraw money before returning to the home. She managed to escape early Monday morning and contact police.

CCPD hostage negotiators convinced the suspect to surrender to police after about three hours. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony kidnapping, robbery, and assault.
The suspect's identity has not yet been released.
