Long Beach police investigate man found dead in crashed vehicle

A man who may have suffered a medical emergency died in a car that crashed in Long Beach Thursday.

Officers were sent to the 2300 block of East 70th Street, west of Paramount Boulevard, about 12:30 a.m. Thursday "regarding a single vehicle traffic collision," according to the Long Beach Police Department.

"Upon arrival, officers found a male adult driver unresponsive inside a 2010 Dodge Charger," police said in a statement.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said. Information on his identity was not immediately available.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the driver ... may have suffered a medical emergency which resulted in a loss of control and subsequently collided with a wall," police said. "At this time, speed, impaired driving and distracted driving are not considered to be factors in the collision."
