Man, 3 dogs struck and killed in downtown L.A.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A pedestrian and his three dogs were killed when they were struck by a vehicle early today in downtown Los Angeles.

The collision was reported at approximately 12:20 a.m. and Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to Fifth and Hill streets where they learned the victim was walking in a large crosswalk  with his dogs when the driver struck them, LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli told City News Service.

The victim, who Lomeli said was between 25 and 35 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The dogs also died in the collision.

Police say the man struck several cars during the crash.

The driver was arrested at the scene, Lomeli said.

According to CBS 2, police said the driver was determined to be under the influence.
