Man arrested in connection to fires in Boyle Heights

A man was arrested in connection to a series of small vegetation fires that were set in the Boyle Heights area Wednesday morning, an officer with the Los Angeles Fire Department's Erik Scott told KNX News' Jon Baird.

It happened along the 1300 to the 2000 blocks of Cesar Chavez Avenue, according to Los Angeles Fire Department. The fires happened between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., Fox 11 reported.

An officer told KNX News’ Jon Baird that police received three to four calls about the suspect and that he appeared to be using Cesar Chavez as a way to get downtown to set these fires.

LAFD'S Erik Scott said firefighters put out 12 "intentionally set vegetation and debris fire." There were no injuries or structural damages.

Details regarding the man who was arrested are limited, but officers described him as being in his 40s.
