MORENO VALLEY (CNS) - A man fatally shot himself at a Moreno Valley home where deputies had just discovered the body of a woman in what was being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide, sheriff's officials said today.
Deputies found the woman's body during a welfare check at around 11:20 a.m. Friday in the 25300 block of Billie Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff's officials said significant trauma wounds had been inflicted on the woman's body.
While inside the home, deputies heard a single gunshot from another room and immediately exited the building before a SWAT team was deployed into the room, where they found a man who had died of a gunshot wound, authorities said.
The deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide and the identities of the deceased were not released pending notification of family.
