
Ten new mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus in Los Angeles County, according to the Greater L.A. County Vector Control District.
The agency reported that samples were taken from Downey, Downtown L.A., Mission Hills, Norwalk, Woodland Hills and Valley Glen. Samples from all selected locations tested positive for the virus.
California has reported 15 West Nile virus cases in humans this year alone. One of those cases popped up in L.A. County earlier this month.
L.A. County Vector Control has recommended that residents clear property of any standing pools of water and ensure that swimming pools and decorate ponds are properly maintained. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water.
