
A traffic crash in Long Beach early Thursday left a motorist dead and her passenger injured.
Officers were sent to the area of Studebaker Road and Second Street about 1:40 a.m. Thursday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

"Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle in the northbound lanes of Studebaker Road south of Loynes Drive," an LBPD statement said. "The vehicle was occupied by a female adult driver and a female adult passenger. Good Samaritans had stopped to provide medical assistance to both occupants."
The driver of the car -- Brianna Chairez, 27, of Norwalk -- died at the scene, police said.
Paramedics took her passenger, a woman whose name was not released, to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, police said.
"The preliminary investigation revealed a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Studebaker Road at a high rate of speed, (and) the vehicle then collided with a guardrail," police said. ``At this time, speed and alcohol are being investigated as factors in the collision.
