A series of car break-ins in Playa del Rey and Venice left multiple cars with smashed windows and residents furious.

Five cars were damaged on Sunridge Street and many more on Trolleyway Street early Thursday morning, while at least two cars were hit on Manchester Avenue, according to NBC 4.

Four cars were vandalized and broken into in the 700 block of Brooks Avenue in Venice, an LAPD desk officer told City News Service.

One man told KNX News’ Jon Baird his neighbor’s car was vandalized.

“They didn't have anything stolen, they just broke the windows and went through the car,” he said. “There was nothing in there. That's when it becomes pointless.”

A mechanic said that car break-ins happen all the time in Los Angeles, but it's becoming too much.

“It's much more than any other city that we're seeing," he said. “This is one example of a bigger problem that we have, but we have a really serious problem in the city.”

It’s unclear if the break-ins were done by one person or by multiple people.
