A new Chipotle restaurant plans to begin building burrito bowls in downtown Los Angeles next year. Although the company is planning to expand its physical footprint, it’s also promising to reduce its green footprint.

You can pick up your favorite burrito at 255 S. Grand Avenue beginning in early 2022.

The 2,436 square-foot space will also include a 1,650 square-foot patio with 30 more seats, allowing Chipotle to serve its margaritas. Customers can grab a burrito or dine inside from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Currently, the closest Chipotle location is less than a mile away on 6th Street but across the 110 freeway.

Chipotle pledged last week to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. The company said it would evaluate its own greenhouse gas emissions as well as those from vendors who support its supply chain.
Last year, the company tied executive’s compensation to meeting climate change goals.

“We are committed to continuous improvement and will actively do our part to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and protect the planet,” Chipotle food safety officer Laurie Schalow wrote in a statement. “We are passionate about cultivating a better world, and as a company with nearly 3,000 restaurants and approximately 95,000 employees, we have a responsibility to drive meaningful change.”
