Compton City Council is expected to introduce an ordinance Tuesday that will address street takeovers in Compton.

The new ordinance would allow police to impound cars for 30 days that are involved in street takeovers and fine drivers $10,000.

City officials said that street takeovers happen every week.

The tactic might not be foolproof, however. Law enforcement officials said that many cars used in street takeovers are stolen.
