Monday marked the move-in day for an estimated 8,000 USC students living on campus this school year and there’s a new way of getting to campus quickly.
This year, USC is introducing a “fast lane” at most vehicle and pedestrian entrances, according to university officials. But to get to the fast lane, you need your ID.
“At each fast lane, you will be able to tap – or swipe – your USC staff, faculty and student identification card (USCard) to expedite the screening process and allow you quicker access to campus,” university officials explained in a press release.

Students who spoke with KNX News’ Craig Fiegener said that the new “fast lane” gives them a sense of security.
“At my previous school, that was not a thing. So I was like, this is really interesting but I like it because it makes me feel safer,” she said.
This comes months after pro-Palestinian demonstrations took place both on USC’s campus and UCLA’s campus. At USC, the protest resulted in the cancellation of the main stage graduation ceremony.
