An environmental impact report on the gondola system from Union Station to Dodger Stadium will be released on Monday.
L.A.Aerial Rapid Transit Technologies proposed the project in 2018. The gondola, according to Metro, “would have a maximum capacity of approximately 5,000 people per hour per direction, and the travel time between Union Station and Dodger Stadium would be approximately seven minutes.”

Former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt is also behind the proposed project. His company, McCourt Global, owns 50 % of the parking lots at the stadium, according to Los Angeles Daily News.
David Grannis is the executive director of Zero Emissions Transit, which is spearheading the project. He said the gondola would help to reduce congestion.
“The project is a zero-emission permanent transit connection between Union Station and the Dodger Stadium property and Elision Park with an intermediate station at the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Chinatown,” he said.
Not everyone is on board with the gondola. Stop The Gondola, a group protesting the project, believes the gondola won’t reduce traffic at all and that it’s not needed considering there’s already a shuttle.
“As a transit option, it really doesn't make any sense for Dodger Stadium because everyone is trying to get there at the same time and the gondola has a limited capacity,” Phyllis Ling, the founder of Stop The Gondola, told KABC 7.
If the project is approved, construction could take place in a couple years and be ready for the 2028 Olympics.
