Although Waymo is further expanding its driverless taxis in Los Angeles and San Francisco, you’re going to have to pay and get on a waiting list to try it.

Beginning Wednesday, Waymo will be charging for a ride. The robo-taxi company started free rides back in January and built a waiting list that’s about 50,000 names long.

The company is still waiting to get full approval from regulators

In March, California regulators approved the company’s expansion in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Some state and local lawmakers, however, are not fully on board with Waymo.

After Waymo kicked off its Waymo One Tour in Santa Monica back in October, L.A. County Janice Hahn told the Los Angeles Times that the robotaxis are “far too untested.”

In February Sen. Dave Cortese introduced a bill that would allow local governments to regulate autonomous vehicles.
