On Monday, wildlife officials caught an adult black bear and her three cubs who were living under a home in Monrovia, days after the bear took a swipe at the back of a woman's leg.
The homeowner told KNX News' Emily Valdez the mama bear and her cub had been living under his home since January, but they didn't bother him even when he was gardening in his backyard.
Then on Saturday, the homeowner said a woman was walking a dog when the bear took a swipe at the back of the woman's knee. Some neighbors wanted the bears removed a while ago.
But some, like Gerald Pool, said the bear should be left alone.
"This is wilderness country," he said. "So if you can't take that kind of association with the animals, then you're in the wrong place."
Wildlife officials say the cubs are healthy and several months old. They tranquilized the mom on Monday morning before grabbing the cubs. They were all taken to a wildlife veterinarian.
Wildlife officials have not decided what her fate will be, but both the homeowner and Gerald say they do not want her euthanized.
