An officer from La Habra is in critical condition after a shooting outside the police department Friday night that killed one person, police said.
Officers responded to the front entrance of the La Habra police department just after 7 p.m. Friday for a “disturbance call,” the department said in a press release.

Police said when officers reached the entrance, a suspect began firing at them.
A bullet struck one of the policemen, who officials rushed to a nearby trauma center in critical -- but stable -- condition, officials said.
The department did not disclose details of the emergency call received, saying their investigation was still preliminary.
Following protocol, the Orange County district attorney will conduct a separate inquiry into the police shooting.
