
Police shot and killed a man they say was armed with a machete outside a Calabasas restaurant on Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the 23400 block of West Calabasas Road and Mulholland Drive around 7:40 p.m. following a reported assault with a deadly weapon, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman told City News Service.
When officers arrived, they found a man armed with a machete who reportedly attacked someone in a McDonald’s parking lot, according to KCAL News.
A man was seen showing officers wounds on his leg and a neck, ABC-7 reported.
Witnesses told KNX News’ Jon Baird that they saw the man run to the Sagebrush Cantina with police chasing him and he was shot at the parking lot.
Police said that prior to the shooting, the man was tased twice and that he was holding a knife and a glass bottle. The man was taken to the hospital where he died.
The suspect was described as a man in his mid-50’s.
The city of Calabasas wrote on X at 8:17 p.m. that some streets in Old Town Calabasas were closed due to police activity.
