A fight broke out late Monday night between pro-Palestine and pro-Israel demonstrators at UCLA, forcing campus police to break things up.
According to the Daily Bruin, the student newspaper at UCLA, it started with a confrontation around 11:30 p.m. when counter-protesters played music and used a megaphone to shout at the encampment's barricade in Dickson Plaza. A fight broke out between to the two sides around 11: 40 p.m., prompting six campus officers to separate the two groups.
Protesters in the encampment went to the Powell scaffolding where they used wooden planks to try to block the entrance, according to City News Service. Contemporary Services Corp. security officers used their bikes to create a barrier to separate campus officers, the pro-Palestine group, and the pro-Israel group.
At one point, 40 counter-protestors tried to push past through the barricade at the entrance near Powell Library, according to the Daily Bruin.
Campus police left around 12:15 a.m. No arrests were made.
This incident comes nearly a day after a fight broke out between the protestors on Sunday during a rally to support Jewish students.
The pro-Palestine group has been on campus since April 25.
