A street takeover in Compton ended with the burglary of Ruben's Bakery & Mexican Food at around 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
KNX News’ Pete Demetriou reported on the incident that happened at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue.
“Surveillance video captured individuals ramming a white Kia soul into the entrance of the bakery before several dozen individuals ran inside the location and looted store items,” Lieutenant Melissa Ramirez, with the Compton L.A. Sheriff’s Department station, said.
An estimated 100 people were involved in the takeover.
Demetriou reported that social media and other videos are being accessed to track down the cars and people involved in the burglary. There are also some fairly clear pictures of the license plate of a Kia Soul that was used to bash through the bakery doors.
Compton officials are pledging to provide whatever resources necessary to track down the culprits.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the Compton Sheriff’s Station at 310-605-6500.
