After first sending postcards to fans featuring the date of November 1 noting what could only be the lead-up to the release of their first album in 16 years, The Cure offered up the first single, "Alone," worldwide on Thursday, September 26 at 7AM Eastern.

Rumors of a completed album have been around for some time, but actual details have since eluded fans until last week's surprise update. The Cure frontman Robert Smith told NME back in 2022, “I’ve been working on two Cure albums, and one of them is finished,” anticipating a release date for the completed one, Songs Of A Lost World, in September of that year, while calling it “the doomiest thing that we’ve ever done.”

Two years later it seems as if the time is right for some sadness and despair right around election season... How promising. Brace yourselves.
