Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena kicked off its annual Dinner in the Park Turkey Drive and Distribution on Wednesday. And the organization is in desperate need of turkeys.

Amanda Green, who serves as COO at Union Station Homeless Services, told KNX News’ Karen Adams that they’re collecting 900 turkeys this year and are 400 turkeys short.

“They're going to be distributed as frozen turkeys in our turkey and all the fixings boxes, and then we're preparing the rest and distributing hot meals next week on the 25th and 26th,” she said.

But turkey isn’t the only item that’s needed. Green said they need cream of mushroom soup, cranberry sauce. crispy fried onions for the green bean casserole, and pies.

Green added that the agency doesn’t want to have to turn people away.

“We want to make sure that we're there for our community,” she said. “Dinner in the Park has been going on for over 50 years, and so we don't want this year to be the year we can't do it.”

Food donations can be made at the agency’s Pasadena location at 412 S Raymond Ave.
