WASHINGTON (KNX) — A passenger on a flight from New York to Los Angeles who forced the pilot to return to the terminal delaying takeoff, has been fined $20,000 by the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to the FAA, the flight left New York for L.A. on Jan. 4. While the pilot was taxiing away from the gate, the passenger "yelled orders at multiple flight attendants," then removed his seatbelt and began moving about the cabin.

When asked to return to his seat, he reportedly refused and threatened a flight attendant with an expletive.

"While moving up and down the aisle during taxiing, he made physical contact with a flight attendant and continued yelling profanities," the FAA said in a statement. The flight then returned to the gate where law enforcement officers escorted the man from the flight.

The fine against the unidentified unruly flyer was one of 10 announced on Wednesday, totaling more than $200,000 in fines.
