The U.S. women's national team will conclude group stage play in the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup Monday evening, facing Mexico at Dignity Health Sports Park with a tie or victory assuring it of the best record in its group.
The U.S. (2-0-0) leads the four-team Group A with six points, thanks to a 5-0 victory over the Dominican Republic Tuesday, and a 4-0 win over Argentina Friday, outshooting its opponents by a combined 51-4 margin. Mexico (1-0-1) is second with four points. It tied Argentina, 0-0, Tuesday and defeated the Dominican Republic, 8-0, Friday.

Regardless of Monday's result on the final day of Group A play, the U.S. is assured of advancing to the quarterfinals. However, it won't know its quarterfinal opponent until after Groups B and C conclude play Tuesday and Wednesday.
Once the quarterfinal teams are determined based on the group stage standings, the seedings for the quarters will feature the team accumulating the most overall points facing the team accumulating the least points, the team with the second most points facing the team with the seventh most points and so on.
The U.S. is second in the rankings compiled by FIFA, soccer's worldwide governing body. Mexico is ranked 35th.
The U.S. leads the series, 40-1-1, with the only loss coming in the 2010 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying tournament.
The U.S. is 19-0-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park where it has played more than any other venue.
All but three of the 23 players on the U.S. roster play in the National Women's Soccer League. The exceptions are midfielders Lindsey Horan, who plays for Lyon of France's Division 1 Féminine, and Korbin Albert, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, also of France's Division 1 Féminine, and defender Emily Fox, who plays for Arsenal FC of England's Women's Super League.
Mexico's roster consists of 19 players who play in Mexico's Liga MX Femenil and four in the NWSL. Mexican forwards Maria Sanchez and Diana Ordoñez are teammates with U.S. goalkeeper Jane Campbell on the Houston Dash while defender Reyna Reyes is a teammate of U.S. midfielders Sam Coffey and Olivia Moultrie, forward Sophia Smith and defender Becky Sauerbrunn with the Portland Thorns FC.
The 7:15 p.m. game will be broadcast in English by Paramount+ and in Spanish by ESPN Deportes and ESPN+.
