Vampire Weekend -- Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, and Chris Tomson -- will officially drop 2024’s Only God Was Above Us on April 5. The band says in a statement the album was "inspired and haunted by 20th Century New York City," and was recorded all over the world, from Manhattan to Los Angeles to London and Tokyo. Check out the album trailer below.
The 10-track "magnum opus" -- one of this year's most anticipated albums -- is the product of five years spent "refining, reworking and gradually shaping" lyrical and melodic structures to take Vampire Weekend to a new creative peak. "Direct yet complex, showing the band at once at its grittiest, and also at its most beautiful and melodic." Take a look at the official album art and tracklisting below. Pre-orders are available now.
Fans can look forward to two new singles arriving on February 16 -- "Capricorn" and "Gen-X Cops" -- as well as a special release week performance in Austin, TX at the Moody Amphitheater at noon on April 8 during the historic total eclipse. Tickets for this special event go on sale on February 13 at 10AM CT. Pre-sale and general info can be found at VampireWeekend.com.
