Bert McCracken of The Used joined RADIO.COM for a special FANDEMIC Instagram Live on Wednesday, answering fan questions from around the world about the band’s upcoming album, Heartwork, and beyond.
From the book club you're not invited to, to his family activities and senior pets, McCracken gave us a look inside his time social distancing, live from Australia. Later this month The Used will release their new album, and according to Bert, things are better than ever.
"It's always pretty nerve-racking the week before the record comes out, and I guess it all depends on how personal I feel like I've gotten with the record," Bert shared.
This time the band kept it lighter, "even the darker moments on 'Heartwork' are painted in this really bright, almost neon light. It feels appropriate for this time. Addressing the darkness with a flashlight."
"We have just never been in a better place, just mentally and emotionally. We're all just on this other level as far as connected bands go. We're still in it for the music. We're still best friends."
On April 24, The Used will release their new album, Heartwork. The band’s first LP since 2017 features appearances from Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of blink-182, and is produced by John Feldmann. Promising the same honesty and emotions of their first two albums, mixed with the flare of their later releases – fans have been anxious to hear what McCracken and company have in store.
Since their self-titled debut in 2002, few bands have been as electric and exciting live as The Used, mixing thoughtful and raw Rock with pure passion that has guided them through the past two decades.
You can pre-order your copy of Heartwork here. Check out our full FANDEMIC Instagram Live with Bert above.
