Actress Holly Robinson Peete discusses the Delivering Jobs campaign

In the United States, approximately 6.5 million people have autism, and intellectual or developmental differences. And, of these adults, an astounding 8 out of 10 with developmental differences are unemployed because of the lack of job opportunities in their communities, despite having the skill sets and expertise to excel in the workplace.

Now is the time for this perception to finally change.

To raise awareness and help drive this change for a more inclusive workforce, Autism SpeaksBest Buddies, and Special Olympics, in partnership with the Entertainment Industry Foundation, came together to launch the Delivering Jobs campaign in 2019. This is an inclusion campaign dedicated to creating pathways to one million employment and leadership opportunities for people with autism, intellectual and/or developmental differences by 2025.

Research from the Harvard Business Review shows that employing people with autism, intellectual and/or developmental differences leads to positive business impacts, including better morale and improved products, services and bottom lines. In fact, 97% of HR professionals say that employees with disabilities perform the same or better than their peers.

To raise awareness and help drive this change for a more inclusive workforce, Actress Holly Robinson Peete, who has a son with autism, discusses the Delivering Jobs Campaign and how we can all work together to build a more inclusive workforce in our communities and change the narrative about hundreds of thousands of people with autism, intellectual and/or developmental differences, who are ready, willing and able to work.
