Ryan Hurd's steamy performance of his new single, "Chasing After You," on last weekend's Academy of Country Music Awards marked the first time he'd ever performed on an awards show. And as if the prestige of performing on the ACMs wasn't enough, it was even more special considering that he got to sing his duet with his wife, ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, Maren Morris.
"The ACM awards this year, I still can't believe they asked me to perform on them," he gushes in a statement from his label. "I know there's a lot of people that probably, I mean, when there's so many people that they could have asked, and I really am still floored.
"It was so amazing to get to do that with Maren," he continues. "If I never get to do it again, I'm so glad that it was this song and it was with her. It was such a moment, not just musically, but I think just for us, so special to share it. And it was amazing to like, feel like we were the only two people in the world in that moment. And hopefully, that's what everybody else felt.
"And you know, seeing the fan reaction was really cool. I know that those award shows kind of like all or nothing as far as fan reception and to have so many people reach out and be so positive and encouraging. And say- tell us that they loved it was a massive blessing. I don't know if I'll ever get to do something like that again. I hope so. Because it was so fun.
"And truly, I'm thankful for the opportunity and I really do love what we got to do. And I'm thankful for everybody that got to see it and liked it too.
