School is out and many San Diego children are going hungry. Unfortunately, many kids living in poverty don't have the same access to free meals at home. Especially after this last year, parents have to make the difficult choice of paying rent or feeding their kids. You can help.
Today (6/16) from 5am to noon is the San Diego Food Bank's "Day to Donate." Drop off your food donations, cash donations or purchase a $5 donation bag at the Vons on Murphy Canyon off Aero and the 15 freeway. Your donation will help make sure no child goes hungry this summer.
If you can't make it out there today, don't worry! You can donate anytime from anywhere at sandiegofoodbank.org/summer.
We spoke with Vanessa, VP of Operations at the San Diego Food Bank, about why the donations are needed this time of year and the impact of the pandemic had on their distribution.
