During an interview ahead of his set at Tortuga Music Festival over the weekend, Houser told Audacy’s TC & Dina B. that his son, Huckleberry, will become a big brother to a little brother or sister in October.

“I put the milk back in the coconut, and here we go,” Randy laughed.

The bundle of joy isn’t the only news the Houser household is celebrating. They’re also raising a glass to Randy’s new music, including his single, “Note To Self,” which is just the beginning of his more independent-minded music to come.

“Any time someone tries to tell me how to make music and what to say and all those things… that don’t settle very well with me,” Randy expressed. “I didn’t really want to do it the traditional way anymore. I just want to do what I want to do and if people like it then that’s fine. That’s obviously what we all want, but I want to be able to say things that like, make people think instead of just, ‘Hey truck, hey girl, BEER, truck, girl, beer.'”

Mission accomplished as Randy explores past decisions, memories and thoughts in with the new track, which takes listeners on a nostalgic, impactful journey.

“I don’t like to play the easy game,” he said. “[It’s about] just things that I’ve sort of learned over the years and things that I want to make myself do better at. I kinda had the time to sit around and go, ‘OK, what did I do wrong here and how’d this go bad? Just things you learn.”

The single is just the first of Houser’s new music. He’s expected to release and entire album, which he said is one of his favorites of all his work, in the coming months.
