Alachua County

ACTIVITIES/EVENT CANCELLATIONS-Alachua County

--Alachua county has activated its 311 Emergency Information line. Dial 3-1-1 for the latest information and rumor control.
--Alachua County Offices will be closed beginning Tuesday at 1 p.m. and Wednesday. The decision to reopen will be based on the storm's impacts.

SANDBAGS-Alachua County

Sandbags are available:
--Wayside Park, 11855 NW U.S. Highway 441, Alachua, FL 32615
Monday, August 28, 2023 between 10am and 5pm & Tuesday, August 29, 2023 between 8am and 12 noon, the county will disperse 10 filled bags per vehicle.
Self-serve sandbags, sand, and shovels will be available for self-serve outside those hours. Call your local city government for their sandbag locations.

The City of Gainesville has sandbag distribution sites:

Pre-made sandbags are available from 12-5 p.m. today and tomorrow from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Public Works (405 N W 39th Ave.). To best manage traffic to the Public Works facility, city officials ask neighbors to adjust their routes and drive north on NW Sixth Street, turning right (east) on NW 39th Ave. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per person.

-Self-serve sandbags are available from 12-5 p.m. today and tomorrow from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Citizens Field (1000 NE Waldo Rd.). Please access the site from NE 12th Avenue via Waldo Road, or travel south on NE 15th Street via NE 16th Avenue. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per person.

SCHOOLS-Alachua County

Alachua County public schools are closed Tuesday, August 29, 2023 and Wednesday, August 30, 2023. A decision on when schools will reopen will be announced after the storm passes and school staffs and roads are safe and secure.
