Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Some residents in the western part of the valley got an unexpected shaking on Thursday afternoon.
A magnitude 3.8 earthquake hit just west of Las Vegas at 1:47pm. The epicenter of the shaking was out in Red Rock Canyon.
There were no reports on any damage or injuries.
Even though earthquakes are rarely felt in Las Vegas, they’re fairly common in Nevada overall. The Silver State ranks behind only Alaska , Hawaii, California and Texas in the number of earthquakes reported over a ten-year period from 2015-2025.
