Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - After a more than 7-hour-meeting in which both parents and employees voiced loud opposition, the Clark County School District Board of Trustees voted 5-1 on Wednesday to impose a mandate that school district employees must be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Trustee Danielle Ford was the only vote against the measure.

The vote doesn't mean that a mandate takes place immediately. It means that CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara can now develop and implement a mandatory vaccination plan through which School District employees will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The plan will include a process for requesting exemption from the vaccination requirement for either medical conditions or for sincerely held religious beliefs. There is no deadline for the plan to be implemented.

This mandate applies only to CCSD employees, and there is no current mandate for students.

The Board of Trustees says that Dr. Jara will develop the plan through consultations with District staff, union representatives, and partners.
