Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police arrested one of their own over the holiday weekend.
The department announced Tuesday, that back on July 4th , LVMPD Officer Jerry Wheeler was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of Battery Constituting Domestic Violence, 1st Offense.
Two days later, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office amended the charges to single counts of Child Abuse, Neglect or Endangerment, Battery, and Battery Constituting Domestic Violence,1st offense.
Metro released no further information about what led to Wheeler’s arrest.
Wheeler has been employed with LVMPD since 2019. He is assigned to the Convention Center Area Command, Tourist Safety Division. He’s been placed on suspension of police powers without pay pending further investigation.
