Proof of vaccination against the COVID19 virus will be mandatory for students wanting an in-person education on Nevada's university and college campuses.
The Nevada state Board of Health unanimously approved the vaccination requirement during an emergency meeting Friday.
The requirement language states: “a person shall not enroll in courses at a university, community college, or state college on or after November 1, 2021, unless the person submits to the institution proof of a completed COVID-19 vaccination series.”
The requirement allows for medical and religious exemptions. Students enrolled in a program of distance education and who do not attend classes on campus also are exempt.
UNLV, UNR, the College of Southern Nevada, Nevada State College, Great Basin College, Desert Research Institute, Western Nevada College and Truckee Meadows Community College all fall under the new requirement.
Most classes at UNLV for the Fall 2021 semester will be in-person.
