Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – I-11 northbound was closed for hours downtown on Wednesday afternoon after a shooting involving Nevada State Police.
The incident happened just after 1:30pm on 11 North just past Las Vegas Boulevard. Video taken by a driver caught in the backup showed NSP troopers, guns drawn, ordering the driver of an SUV out of their vehicle. The driver is then shown leaving the scene, followed by the sounds of gunshots.
Shortly after, the vehicle was spotted at a Dignity Health location at Sahara and Decatur. The SUV had crashed into the side of the building.
The driver was taken into custody there. Nevada State Police were supposed to give a press briefing, but canceled it, so there are still plenty of questions about what led to the shots being fired. No officers were hurt.
