Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A shooting at a southeast Las Vegas Walmart on Tuesday morning left a suspected gunman dead after he was shot by a Las Vegas Metro Police officer.
Around 6:00 a.m., LVMPD responded to a fight involving multiple individuals inside the Walmart near Nellis and Harmon.
As the first responding officer arrived, he heard a gunshot inside the building. Immediately after the gunshot, an armed male suspect exited the storefront carrying a firearm. The officer fired at the suspect, who was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
Inside the Walmart, police located a second man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Detectives believe the confrontation was an isolated incident between individuals who knew each other, and that there’s no ongoing threat to the public
No police officers were injured. This marks the eighth officer-involved shooting within Metro's jurisdiction in 2026. Per department rules, the identity of the involved officer will be disclosed within 48 hours, followed by a detailed media briefing within 72 hours.
