“In the last couple of weeks, I’ve run across folks that I know that live in the city. They’re all moving out – a lot of them to Metairie,” Newell Normand said on his radio program on WWL Monday.
He said he was curious as to why that shift might be occurring.
“I talked to a lady the other day that’s been here about four months. She said, ‘Oh my god, I call for services. I actually get them. My water bill appears, and it’s actually right,’” Normand relayed.
“What’s the difference? It’s the mindset. It’s the culture. It’s not busywork… You’ve got to care. You’ve got to give a damn. And you’ve got to be responsive to the electorate… The constituency won’t tolerate that inefficiency, that ineffective government, not now, not ever,” he said.
“If we keep electing people that are going to be wishy-washy on these issues… and have no desire to consume political capital, this is exactly what you’ll get.”
