The 10-1 Aggies beat Bridgewater College in the first round in Virginia this past weekend, 30-22. DelVal actually trailed in this game 19-10 late in the third quarter, but they rallied down the stretch to earn the win and advance.
"Our guys are always confident," DelVal head coach Duke Greco said. "They're confident in themselves and how they prepare. Everything here is about hard work and the work they put into the week. They were just waiting for the opportunity to make a play, and (junior receiver) John Davis made plays (two touchdown catches, including go ahead score), (senior running back) Mario Nigro made plays (touchdown catch).
"Defensively, all day we made plays: (sophomore defensive back) Blaine Netterman with the interception, (senior defensive lineman Vincent) DiLeo with the scoop and score (16-yard fumble return for a touchdown)."
"You definitely take something from that game. It was a great game," Greco said. "But I think we're much, much better than we were Week 2. I think they are much, much better."
Wesley beat Framingham State 58-21 in the first round to get here. The Wolverines are 10-1 and average nearly 36 points per game.
Greco bases their success on several factors.
"No. 1, well-coached," he said. "They are always in the right spot. No. 2, athleticism. They'll be, by far, the most athletic team we've seen all season. And that's not just at one or two spots, that's across the board. They have playmakers."
The winner of this game will play the winner of the match between the University of Mount Union and North Central College in the quarterfinals.
Saturday's game in Dover kicks off at noon.
