PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The form of coronavirus that we are battling is quite nasty because of the complications it can cause in people, especially some of the issues we do not talk about a great deal, such as the formation of clots in the blood.

We have seen a significant number of cases of stroke in otherwise healthy individuals in their thirties and forties by blood clots forming in blood vessels in the brain and reducing blood flow.

Clots also develop at any time in the course of the disease and can impact the kidneys and other vital organs.

As we see a growing number of cases in our hospitals and learn from our combined experience, we are getting better at anticipating these issues and even though there is not a cure, we are able to fight off some of these additional issues.
