By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — You may have noticed that your physician doesn't spend as much time looking at you as he or she might have in the past. Or maybe it is a little less time listening to your lungs or asking about stress at home.

There is no excuse for a lack of attention, but this may be a result of the growing problem of the misuse of computer technology.

At their best, electronic medical record platforms can enhance communication by bring lab or diagnostic results to a physician's fingertips.

The problem is that the government, insurance providers, health care systems and people with the best intentions are forcing physicians to click a growing number of buttons—often with little to do with your concerns as a patient.

Physicians are frustrated and the burnout rate is higher than ever, but patients are the ultimate losers. Reform is necessary.
