(RADIO.COM) — James Gandolfini’s son, Michael, is preparing to play a young Tony Soprano in the series prequel, “The Many Saints of Newark.”

And fellow “Sopranos” cast member Steve Schirripa has full confidence in Michael taking on the role his late dad made famous.

It’s been 20 years since the the premier of the HBO series.

Keeping the casting in the family will be great for the movie, Schirripa said. Like his father, Michael will bring a lot of heart to a tough character.

James Gandolfini died in 2013. “The Many Saints of Newark” will be released this September.
